mods and games and stuff

A blog about my adventures in custom paint jobs and case mods for various video game systems. I often get broken systems, and poor abandoned systems for cheap or free and paint em up! Some are just for fun, some are commissioned. I take suggestions, and I'll even make one for you too.

Steampunk xbox 360, almost done.

An anniversary/christmas/birthday present for my boyfriend. If you don't know what steampunk is, then google it! It's almost done, just have to add some lights, and the plexiglass. I used some spraypaint that has a hammered finish, and an airbrush on the case. Dremel drill for the cut, obviously. Found the gauges and pipes at a scrap yard, and I used epoxy to stick em on.

afro samurai and Barack Obama

This mod was a present for a friend.

The first side, it's kuma from AFRO SAMURAI.

Later, I added BARACK OBAMA to the other side.

The GOW2 xbox 360 that won't play GOW2.

Just realized I never posted the finished GOW2 xbox! This stupid thing is breaking now. The disk drive is dying a slow painful death. It makes horrible scraping noises, and ironically will not run gears of war 2. That is some delicious irony right there hahah.

Flame xbox 360 mod

This xbox has been sold. I didn't make a huge profit on it or anything, but it's all good! I hope whoever bought it is happy with it and taking good care of it!

Original paint job. Decided that I didn't like it.

tekken xbox 360

holy crap, I haven't updated this is a while! Ok, some old stuff that I neglected to post before!:

Photobucket

I first used some bondo on the xbox 360 logo to make it an even surface (thats what the pink is). Then I took a dremel to it.

Photobucket

The opposite side. It's actually a multi-layer stencil that I made. 3 layers of spray paint. On top of the paint I used micro pens, and prismacolor gray scale markers.

Masked off the drawing and darkened the background.

Opposite side, black.

gears of war case mod

I started making a case mod in anticipation of Gears of War 2. I saw this AWESOME case mod and wanted to make my own version for gears of war 2. I didn't want to like directly rip his design off of course, so mine is a bit different.

here it is, the beginning!

It's hard to tell from the photo, but I added some gray on there, just to get things going...

Ok. I used some spray adhesive to keep the red paper stencil of the logo in place as I sprayed black around it. I think it looked kinda cool just like that haha.

I think this was one of the hardest parts. I was trying to get the can to just drip some paint instead of spraying it. It's funny how that works right? When you don't want it to drip then it will drip EVERYWHERE, and when you need it to drip it will be difficult.

I was going to leave it at that, but I thought it looked a little flat. It is gears of war after all, I thought I should roughen it up.

I used a micron pen to draw on the case and my finger to smudge the ink to give a smokey/dirty effect to it. I also used an x-acto knife to make some scratches in it.

I really like the disc tray opening, looks like it got chainsawed from the inside!

I was debating if I should cut out some pieces or not, I just decided to go for it. I used a Dremel to cut out the negative space. It was so hard to control at first, but I got the hang of it eventually haha! I still have to cut out the eyes, and I have a piece of plexiglass waiting to go behind it. Probably going to put some red lights behind it.

That's as far as I got for now!
